1) Rishikonda Beach

The Rishikonda Beach is located just 11km from Vizag and is a much frequented place by the locals and the tourists. The water of Rishikonda beach is considered to be safer than Ramkrishna Beach but it is advisable to stay away from the waters. The beach looks beautiful as it is nestled among the hills. There is an excellent beach resort that overlooks this beautiful beach.

2) Take a trip to the Araku Valley

The scenic beauty of the Araku Valley prompts many to take the 6 hour long journey from the city. The best way to get there is by the train which leaves early in the morning. The train journey is really comfortable and you will enjoy the trip as the train moves through a number of tunnels and small mountains. You can spend the night in an APTDC room which has good facilities. The Padmavathi botanical garden is a famous tourist spot here. The best months to come here are between November and February.

3) Explore the Borra Caves

Borra Caves is among the top things to do in Vizag. People are amazed by the intricate stalagmite that is further enhanced by the lighting. There is a river which flows by these caves which adds to the charm of the place. There is an entry fee for this place and separate charges are levied for any sort of camera.

4) Visit the Submarine Museum

The Submarine Museum is a unique concept as it constructed wholly on a decommissioned submarine of the Indian Navy. This is the first such museum in eastern Asia. When you visit this museum you can learn a lot about the workings of the submarine. There is a fee of Rs 25 for entering the museum.

5) Stroll on the Ramkrishna Beach

This must rank on the top of any list of things to do in Visakhapatnam. This beach is extremely popular among both foreigners and locals. The entire beach is jam packed on holidays and weekends but you will not find anyone surfing or swimming in the water as a lot of people have died while swimming in these waters. Most of the people are dressed in proper clothes and takes a stroll along the beaches or just sit on the benches.

Vizag is revered among domestic and foreign travelers for its well kept beaches, crystal blue waters and a stunning landscape that’s a photographer’s delight. In the last few years, Vizag has also developed as an emerging destination for health tourism.
