Sandeep Karnavat Transforming Thane’s Green Foot print

In its effort to expand upon the Thane Municipal Corporation’s initiative, “Green City, Clean City”, Sunjana Developers have developed a Garden Island of over 30,000 sq.ft.in partnership with Thane Municipal Corporation.

Fronting 750 feet on the Eastern Expressway, Sunjana Developers has developed GardenIslandswith lush lawns on two sides and a central footpath along its spine. The Garden Bays were transformed as part of the ‘Harith Janpath Scheme” of Thane City. Mr. Sandeep Karnavat, promoter of Sunjana Developers, said that “The Garden was developed in collaboration with TMC to provide for the five-hundred families of the low-income neighborhood that did not have access to common amenities or public gardens. There was no common amenity for people from Teen Hath Naka to Waghle junction, and therefore being in the middle, we took it upon ourselves to develop a garden to the best standards”.

Along the walking path, zones have been created for ladies, children, senior citizens, and families. Special Medicinal and Herbal zones, Gym Zones, Walking Track, Public Seating, and play area for children are some of the amenities that feature along the walking path. Most importantly, Sunjana Developers has developed and maintained the Garden Island for the public of Thane City as part of its CSR Initiative. The Group has also been recognized by Thane Municipal Corporation for its commendable upkeep and management of the Gardens.

Sandhya Sharma, a resident of Louiswadi said that she and her friends meet in the park to exercise and walk daily. She also described that children play in the lawns and senior citizens of her neighborhood utilized the park for Hasya Club, Yoga Sessions, picking flowers for medicinal and Pooja purposes, or even just relaxing.

This innovative initiative to build a public garden space along the Eastern Expressway was taken up by Mr. Sandeep Karnavat, to encourage fellow developers to develop public infrastructure to support the ever-increasing projects in Thane City. Most importantly the Gardens are an integral part of the City’s infrastructure as they help to reduce the Carbon Footprint and Noise pollution of the busy Eastern Expressway.
