As is clear from the table, there has been a number of surprising results in this year’s Indian Premier League already. For instance, anyone who does IPL predictions, such as the guys at cricketonlinebetting.in/ipl-prediction, would not have predicted that the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings would be sitting near the bottom of the table without a single win from their first three matches.
In fact, before the tournament started, the majority of the top sports betting sites had these two teams as two of the favourites to go on and win the trophy in May. However, as things stand, these two teams have it all to do and will be lucky to make it to the Play-Offs – for those of you who are new to the IPL, the top four teams once all the group matches have been played will qualify for the Play-Offs.
The Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants are the two new teams in this year’s IPL, and many an IPL 2022 match prediction would have had them languishing somewhere near the bottom of the table. However, both sides have some talented players and those players, unlike those for the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians, have come to the IPL party. As a result, they sit third and fifth in the table, and will be quietly confident of making an assault on the Play-Off spots.
The two most impressive teams to date, in our opinion, have been the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals. The former are sitting at the top of the table thanks to three wins from their opening four matches, while the latter are sitting in second place with two wins from three and a superior Net Run Rate. The Kolkata Knight Riders dispatched both the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians with ease, while the Rajasthan Royals have a batting power that most of the other franchises can only dream of.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are sitting at the bottom of the table with two defeats from their opening two matches and a really bad Net Run Rate. They were the worst team in the 2021 Indian Premier edition, and their fans would have been hoping for something better this time around, but it looks like they have the worst team once again, and will be lucky not to finish at the foot of the table and pick up that proverbial wooden spoon.
Who Do We Think Will Win the 2022 IPL?
Well, going on what has happened so far in the 2022 IPL, we are going to back one of either the Kolkata Knight Riders or the Rajasthan Royals to go on and win the title on the 29th of May. We know it is early doors and that there will be a lot of twists and turns before the final, but we can only go on what we have seen in these early stages, and this is that the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals are the two best teams in the tournament.
Now, if we were forced to pick a winner of the tournament from these two teams, who would we opt for? Well, this is a very tricky decision, but we would ultimately go for the Rajasthan Royals to go on and win their second IPL trophy. They won their first title back in 2008, during the first edition of the competition, but they have not come anywhere close to winning it since. This is definitely their best chance in years thanks to the fact that they have quality in abundance. In the batting department, they have the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, and Shimron Hetmeyer. In the bowling department, they can call on the likes of Trent Boult, Ravi Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Pay Attention to the Dew Factor
If you love to place bets on the Indian Premier League, then one of the biggest IPL betting tips that we can give you is to pay attention to coin toss and the dew factor. It is safe to say that winning the coin toss has been a big advantage to date at all of the stadia that are being used – from the 14 matches that have been played, nine of them have been one by the team that was fortunate enough to win the toss and opted to field first. When the outfield is wet because of dew, bowling becomes a lot more difficult since the ball gets wet and becomes like a bar of soap.
Dew is a big problem in evening matches in India, and we think that something needs to be done to try and combat it more. At the end of the day, we do not think that you should have a prestigious competition such as the Indian Premier League decided on the luck of a coin toss. The IPL should be won based on talent and performances along, not on who is lucky enough to win the most coin tosses.
